Hello, my name is Johnny Kirincic Head of John Kirincic Basketball. I grew up playing CYO Sports in Cleveland Ohio at Gesu Catholic School, I almost won 3 City Championships there. I played NCAA Division 1 High and Mid Major Basketball for 2.5 years at East Carolina and Youngstown State. So I’ve learned from two NCAA Division 1 Coaching staffs. Before playing college I played 5 years of High School Basketball at Saint Ignatius HS in Cleveland, Cleveland Heights HS, and Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. My last year of HS playing a National Prep schedule I averaged 9.6 PPG, 3.6 apg, and shot 44% from 3. We were ranked 10th in the country for Post Grad and played a loaded schedule. 13 of our guys including me went NCAA D1 and 2 went straight overseas.
I was the Starting Point Guard for NAIA Fisher College in 2020-2021, but it was a Covid year so we did not play any games.
Currently I am playing at Bryant & Stratton College (OH) a USCAA D1 school for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons.
I have extensive knowledge of how College Recruiting works in dealing with it personally for 12 years. I’ve received interest from 6 NCAA D1’s to walk on (UMass Lowell, UCF, ECU, Cleveland State, Kent State, and Youngstown State). I’ve received 15 athletic scholarships + walk on offers to play NCAA D2, NAIA, NCCAA, and USCAA basketball. I have been recruited by 40+ NCAA D3’s. I did this all without the help of any Coaches and a big part of John Kirincic Basketball will be teaching kids how to do their own recruiting so they can put their life in their own hands.
I have been training kids since I was 15 years old. I started working out kids from prestigious AAU Programs such as King James Shooting Stars and Ohio Basketball Club into my 20s. At East Carolina and Youngstown State the coaches trusted me to put our players through individual workouts (sometimes giving me what they wanted done), and I have experience working out NBA players and NBA-G League players, players who play for a country outside of America’s Senior National Team, as well as over 30 players who play professionally overseas. I have been a Coach for Ohio Basketball Club Black Class of 2018, Murphy AC 12U, and Spire Institute’s Post Grad Team in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.
I have always been known for my work ethic. I was always big on going to my trainers, or getting 500-600 made shots in everyday with my mom. I won hardest working player in the program award back to back summers at Youngstown State (voted on by the players), and I won SweatShop Star at HoopGroup Elite Camp (Hardest Working Player at Camp). I’ve always had volume, but purpose to my work, and Bob Nance of Bob Nance Basketball Academy always said I was one of the hardest workers who was under his wing. I aim to get with kids and get them working on translatable things to when they are playing. I aim to be able to communicate what’s on my agenda to kids of all ages.
My goal is simple make as many Cleveland CYO kids and Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district kids, what I grew up being a part of, a realistic chance of achieving their childhood dreams. Whether that is playing at the highest level of college basketball on TV, or that is making money to play the game of basketball. I aim to impart as much knowledge as I can about my journey and how I have had the success and reached the levels I played at. Whether that be recruiting yourself or networking, filming and editing videos, how to actually work on your game, how to make the game easier for yourself (not every bucket needs to be a highlight), and how to approach games, practice, and off season pickup to work on your game.
SKILL WORKOUTS
Please Contact John Kirincic at 216-543-3757 and email at mkirincic15@gmail.com to reserve a spot for a workout. Please both email and text.
Workouts will be held at the Cleveland Heights Rec Center in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. 6th-8th Grade at 6:30-7:30 PM, and 3rd-5th grade at 7:30. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 6th-8th grade will be working on how to be an efficient scorer without the ball in their hands (making them even more of a threat when they are the first or second option). They will be doing freestyle dribbling for 12 minutes, a variety of finishes at the rim for 12 minutes, catch shot fake and shoot a pull up mid range jumper for 12 minutes, and 12 minutes of catch and shoot 3’s. The extra time in the hour is a lotted for giving instruction and to give me time to impart knowledge about the game of basketball to make the game easier. Any time left after that they will shoot free throws.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6th-8th grade will work on their skills for being that first or second option. They will do 16 minutes of go-to moves I have that are simple, easy to get to, and efficient, followed by finishing at the rim. Then 16 minutes of doing a dribble combo that goes hand in hand with the go to moves into mid range pull up jump shots. Then catch and shoot 3s for 16 minutes. Any time left over will be used to shoot free throws.
Monday-Sunday 3rd-5th grade will be working on passing for 12 minutes, ball handling for 12 minutes, shooting closer off the dribble for 12 minutes, and 12 minutes of catch and shoot 3s (even if they aren’t strong enough to get it to the rim)
6th-8th Grade workouts will be a max capacity of 48 kids per session. 3rd-5th grade is a max of 24 kids per session on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and a max of 48 kids on Monday and Wednesday.
Contact John preferably by both email and text to confirm your spot for workouts.
